Care of Cutting Boards

Do's & Dont's

Do not leave board wet and do not put in a sink of water.

This is a natural product and it will warp or crack if water is allowed to soak into the board.

Never place a cutting board in the dishwasher or microwave or use as a hot plate.

Do not store boards in direct sunlight this may cause wood to loose there luster and darken wood.

Care

Use Kennish's Wood Wax and or Mineral oil if board seams to be dry.

Cutting boards should be conditioned after every couple of uses.

If board is only used as decoration then oil only when it feels dry.

Boards should be oiled and waxed on all sides including the bottom. If only one side is conditioned this will allow the board to breath and could cause warping.

Do not use Olive oil, Vegetable or any other edible oil as these could cause the board spoil and become rancid.

Cleaning Guide

To clean your cutting board scrub with hot soapy water without submerging in water rinse and dry with towel. Allow board to completely dry on edge before applying oil or wax.

if you have feet on your board lying flat will be ok to allow air flow under board.

Disclaimer for Wood Species used

Exotic woods that we use are mostly Padauk, Wenge & Purple Heart. Just like Walnut its slight chance of a reaction for people with nut allergies. There is a small chance for people to have some irritant issues with exotic woods.

We can make boards from Domestic wood species but these will take more care due to there open grain.

Board conditioner will help keep the board water resistant as possible. use of wax will help boards from becoming dry and preventing splinters.
